Start your leash and collar training early. You should already have the collar on the puppy. Make it easy by starting to hold the collar with some pressure to stop the puppy. This restraint will be the beginning of leash training. I never go to just pressure from the leash or dragging the puppy. When you have the puppy going on walks and moving with the leash, remember that if you allow your puppy to drag you. Or pull or lay against the collar on walks you will have a more difficult time with training later on. Your puppy will have developed a higher threshold against collar pressure. When you begin obedience training. You will find that they have very strong muscles and little feeling in their necks because of allowing to drag you routinely in the beginning phase of leash training. My puppies learn not to drag me and to respect me. I am the decision maker.
